Car stories

Author is here: http://hiero.ru/Kooob I've never thought that I should be married when I was buying my car :D Today I realised that Belarusian society is full of stereotypes about girls and cars. Today at underground parking near my work I was proposed to ask my (!) HUSBAND to drive me outside the city where I can practice parking to feel confident. I just smiled at that guy. I don't need a husband to have a car, it's ridiculous.

And before all the workers of the parking were staring at me and smiling, some showing me directions and even bowning, funny, eh?

Yesterday I went to repair my left weels as I cut them somewhere on the road and actually I was really happy that after previous visit workers at service remembered me and asked about different problems with car I used to have before. Finally I was asked if my car was a toy car as the weels were really small... Well, maybe they are small, but I am quite happy with my car!

And I can say for sure that the most important in driver is the same as in any other person - patience, attention and respect to other people. If you have all this then who cares about your gender on the road! ;)

Minsk...

Only living in this city for a long time you can feel it's soul. Only then you stop paying attention to soviet style architecture and you notice real people, life and short moments :) I can say that I love my city more and more and I will miss it a lot if am away for a long time...

Friends

My life would be empty without friends. It's true that some times a person needs to be free from anyone, to be alon, but we can't live alone all our life. So our friends are part of our lifes and I would say that's one of the most important parts. Tell me who are your friends and I'll tell who are you. :D

Keeping all this in mind I decided to meet with my university group mates yesterday. It's amazing that with some of them with who at uni we were not so close, now we are. Growing older? or wiser? who knows!

But the best surprise was a call from my really good friend who lives at Germany now (actully many of my friends are travelling around world now:) She is in Minsk at the moment, so we will have time for chats and crazy things together.

Live is a chocolate?

Live is a chocolate? Well, not all the time:)

Many things happened since I was writing in my blog.

For example, last week I was driving a car all the time (maybe because I was really looking forward for it), I even drove at night from village (which is in 100 km away from Minsk) while there was heavy rain...

Today I was in village again. I went to our old cemetery and had a talk with my father, my grand parents and all my grand grand grand ...

and tommorrow is Monday, so back to work again. Have a nice week :P

DEPARTMENT OF IDEOLOGY CLOSES “NASHA NIVA” DOWN

Right before the Easter “Nasha Niva” got a letter from Mensk city executive committee. It has it: “the allocation of “Nasha Niva” in Mensk is not appropriate”. The motivation is as follows: “… it has been ascertained … that the 22th of March the editor-in-chief of “Nasha Niva” was put under administrative arrest for 10 days”.

It is worth while reminding that the editor was detained while getting off bus #100 at Kastrychnickaja square on March, 21st, at the time of post-election protests, later he was convicted of “foul language”.

The authorities try to close the last link in smothering “Nasha Niva”. Since January, 1st, distribution of the paper was banned under various pretexts by the monopolists “Bielsajuzdruk”, “Minharsajuzdruk”, “Minablsajuzdruk”; and “Bielposhta” did not let the paper into the subscription catalogue. On April, 10th, after a considerable delay, the Ministry of Communications didn’t comply with “Nasha Niva” request to acquire a license for independent subscription. That very date is put on the mail from Minsk executive committee, prepared by the department of ideology and signed by vice-chairman M.Ciciankou. It means the ban on “Nasha Niva” company existence.

The authorities are cynically closing down “Nasha Niva” on the eve of its 100th anniversary. In 1915 the first “NN” was closed after Vilnius was occupied by German troops. In 2006 same thing is carried out by the Lukashenka administration. The authorities used to keep some visibility of legal proceedings. Newspapers paused or ceased to exist according to court decisions and those of the Ministry of Information. Now a mere decision of “the department of ideology” is enough. Legally this is absurd. The Press law presupposes no permits for newspaper allocation from any kind of ideological departments. Furthermore, activity of an enterprise can not depend on administrative penalties imposed on its manager.

“Nasha Niva” never broke the law. It is indicative that the paper hasn’t even had notifications from the Ministry of Information for the last four years.

The first Belarusan newspaper is being closed down.

The last independent paper, fully in Belarusan, is being closed down.

The attempt at “Nasha Niva” is a symbolical beginning of Alaksandar Lukashenka’s third term.

Hey there! So I am back with some news:))) All who wanted to know what was going on knew I guess:) I can only say that now people started to wake up and this is great, I do hope that good changes are coming:)))

19 March 2006

Under white wings...

So, in one hour people who want to show solidarity and who don't trust in the results of elections will be on the biggest square in Minsk... Wish us GOOD LUCK;)

15 March 2006

When you friends are in jail, you can't be happy...

I am really depressed by the situation within my country these days. I called to my friend and found out that two friends of mine were taken to a police office and nobody knows when they could be released... Who can change the situation? If not me and you, then WHO?

11 March 2006

Saturday

If you come to Minsk now, you can feel some strange atmosphere. What's going on? In a week there will be elections! He he he... LOL! On the one hand I really depressed with the things what happen with my friends on the other I can only smile when I watch our TV or read newspapers. Mass disinformation and manipulations - this is the main rule of our campain in my opinion. Ooo, thss, don't tell anyone, it's discrimination of the country...

We week was short. Finaly we had a holiday which wasn't Saturday or Sunday (as it was with 1st of Jan for example), so we could rest in the middle of the week. Thanks to the international day of women! there is even one joke: we had a strange week - two Mondays and two Fridays!

Who doubd that I love Minsk as night? I like the lights of the night city! I only hope that spring is really coming!

have a nice weekend!

06 March 2006

Week is over and week is ahead

Last week was really intensive... in the country as well as in my daily life:)

So the election campaine has started and now every one in Belarus listen, watch and read news. All of us have hope that life will be better... NGOs are really under pressure now.

Remember I wrote about a young girl from Belarus who won world model contest? So she visited tut.by and now I can publish some new pics:) Actually she is really nice and intelligent and she is only about 17 years old!

I won't be surprised if i start posting in French, I learn a lot of French these days.

Next week will be interesting and with one day off in the middle as it will be the 8th of March or women day.

02 March 2006

First day of spring...

So, congratulations winter is over:) Althoug in fact it's just back! It was snowing and windy today... Je ne sais pas... C'est la vie.
