After almost two weeks in the city I made a walk today, actually few, but the most important is that I saw my city again. And... I am very optimistic now, despite the fact that I was waiting for the last tram which never came for almost 50 min and took taxi at the end. Ok, let's start from the beginning.
During the day I was in the park with my god son, then we walked through central part of the main avenue, Skaryna or Independence as it's called now (what can you do if some presidents do not like the first publisher...). An then suddenly I'd noticed a red-white-red flag at the top of the building. People were passing by, nobody cared. But I was sooooo happy, I took many pics, which I will upload later.
After midnight I was going home and I was in a different part of the same avenue. I looked up to check the time at the top of the bulding where there is a digital watch... and there was another big white-red-white flag. It's difficult to explain the optimism I feel. It's not just a flag, it's a symbol that in the society despite the general pessimism there are people who believe in changes and do sth for it. So I am not alone:) THAT's inspiring!
Then I talked to some guys on the stop who were trying to get to know me. The usual bla bla bla was even funny and their conclusions about politics especialy. You don't even need to study political science to know them, you just go and talk to people. People do not think in general terms, they want to feel good and they are afraid of changes which will bring something unknown, although they don't like what they have now. It's worth watching the film Ploshcha (the square) to see those people (an example of an "oppositional village" in it).
Stay cool and keep believing in good!
